Acupuncture

Because of the goal of acupuncture is to promote and restore the balance of energy, which flows throughout the body, the benefits of acupuncture can extend to a wide variety of conditions, from psycho-emotional disorders (anxiety, stress, depression) to digestive complains (IBS, nausea & vomiting). It can be beneficial for pain syndromes due to injury or degenerative conditions such as osteoarthritis or even rheumatoid arthritis. It can also help in neurological conditions or to balance out auto-immune conditions like Hashimoto's or Lupus. Acupuncture has been used succesfully for stoke rehabilitation, upper respiratory conditions such as asthma and as an adjuct support therapy to reduce side effects of chemo in cancer patients. Most recently acupuncture had gain popularity in the field of reproductive medicine as its use during IVF procedures has been verified in clinical studies to increase the chance of fertilization by up to thirty procent.

Chinese Herbs

For centuries in China and other Asian countries have used herbal medicine to restore balance and strengthen the body. Now the West had began to embrace herbal therapy and the popularity of Chinese herb medicinals is on the rise. In TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) medicinal plants and herbs are harvested, dried and prepared according to traditional pharmacopedia methods, and taken either in small doses or consumed daily over the course of illness.

Cupping

This wonderful technique can help improve your health and provide numerous benefits. One way to think about cupping is that is the inverse of massage. The suction and negative pressure it provides can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow and sedate the nervous system, which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure. Cupping is used along the acupuncture meridian lines to help alleviate back, neck & shoulder pain, anxiety, stiff muscles, fatigue and even help with cellulite.

Gua Sha

It's literal Chinese translation is "to scape away fever", but gua sha does so much more than that. Used to move qi, increase blood flow and improve circulation, it is used for tendomuscular injuries and in aiding speedy recovery from colds and flu, expecially when accompanied by fever. Gua sha massage is also used in the cosmetic acupuncture protocol to bring color and fresh tone to the face.

Testimonials

“I am a regular at Blue Empress, battling traffic through downtown LA on the 110 to get all the way to Torrance to see this gifted acupuncturist. I had ringing in the ear for a while and she was able to needle it away in 1 session. I love that she explains what she is doing, sharing her knowledge about acupuncture & Chinese Herbs, making me feel like an active participant in my healingprocess.”

Jeroen I.

“I am a regular of Nausicaa and couldn't live without her! I have had Acupuncture for 8 yrs and of all the people I have seen Nausicaa has been the most helpful and though. The treatment is always relaxing and I trully leave feeling better. The more I see her, the more I respond to the treatments. She will always try to fit me in, even when i call at the last minute. She really is the best!”

Acupressure, Massage, Bodywork

Somatic bodywork is focused on providing relief to those conditions that are psyco-emotional in nature and are often times manifested in pains and illements which have no biomedical explanation. Such conditions often reffered to as "mysterious ilnesses" and cannot be detected on x-rays, MRIs or CT scans. Patients are often turned away as allopatic medicine is not equipped to treat such conditions.
